Traditional in nature, this older landscape was overgrown, lacked color, and was populated with dated plant selections. Difficult soils and sun exposure made the owners reluctant to embrace change, but the property’s deep planting beds, once amended, will make this project rife with opportunity for improvement. Boulevard Studios prepared a phased planting scheme that can be installed over time, leaving some larger plants that will now have the space they need to grow properly so they can serve as a mature backdrop to the rest of the garden. New plant material throughout will bring seasonal color as well as year-long interest, and was vetted for adaptability to the project’s conditions. A photo-realistic mockup of the design brought the plan to life while detailed cost estimates gave both the landscape architect and owner alike an opportunity to make final adjustments before proceeding with installation.
